New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said the India AI Impact Summit has emerged as a turning point in shaping how the world will harness the power of artificial intelligence in the future, adding that global leaders were impressed by India’s breakthroughs in the field.
Speaking during his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat, Modi said the recently held summit brought together leaders from several countries, industry heads, innovators and members of the start-up ecosystem, making it the biggest AI summit ever hosted. “This summit proved to be a turning point in the trajectory of how the world will utilise the power of AI in the future,” the prime minister said, noting that India’s capabilities in artificial intelligence were widely acknowledged during the event. Modi highlighted two exhibits at the summit that particularly impressed visiting world leaders. The first was showcased at the booth of Amul, where Artificial Intelligence is being used to assist in animal healthcare. He explained that AI tools are helping farmers monitor the health of livestock and access round-the-clock assistance, improving productivity and animal welfare. The second exhibit focused on Indian culture, with leaders from across the globe expressing amazement at how AI is being deployed to preserve ancient texts, traditional knowledge and manuscripts. Modi said advanced technologies are being used to digitise and adapt these manuscripts so that they can be understood and accessed by today’s generation, ensuring cultural continuity alongside technological progress.
At the summit, India also launched three Made-in-India AI models, underlining the country’s growing role as a global technology innovator, the prime minister said. During the broadcast, Modi also cautioned citizens about the rising cases of digital fraud and so-called “digital arrests”. He said many senior citizens and unsuspecting individuals have fallen victim to such financial crimes and urged people to remain alert and vigilant.
Addressing concerns around repeated KYC updates, Modi advised people not to panic when banks request KYC or re-KYC. “This is only for the safety of your money and your bank account,” he said, appealing to citizens to cooperate with financial institutions to strengthen digital security.
